Actress Samita Bangargi talks about her wedding with actor Aashish Chowdhury
Aashish and I planned everything together. We started preparing 6 months in advance. Both of us chose the venue, dress, wedding cards, cuisines, music and even the flowers. We didn’t want to hire the planner at all as we wanted to give it a personal touch. Our wedding cards had our caricatures on them.
Shopping and fitness regime
Rocky S designed an Indo-western dress for my mehendi. For the wedding I wore a Maharashtrian green sari and a blue and black kallidar sari by Vikram Phadnis for my reception at Taj Lands End. I wore a white layered gown from Rocky S for the brunch party. I bought traditional jewellery like a laxmi mala, nose ring and toe rings. Also my mother-in-law gifted me some lovely jewellery.
I was regular with my workout even before the wedding so there was nothing special that I did. I did go for hair spas, facials and also had a relaxing massage before the wedding.
Pre marital jitters
I was super excited to be a bride. The only time I got jitters was when Aashish made me wear the mangalsutra. I got emotional and had tears in my eyes. I realized that I was leaving my parents home. Aashish calmed me down and helped me relax. He was really cool and chilled out.
Ours wedding celebrations were grand with a bachelor’s party, sangeet, traditional wedding, reception and a brunch party. All that went on for almost a week. We had a party at Poison before the wedding and the usual mehendi and sangeet ceremony.
During our reception we had decided that we will not stand on the stage but casually move all around. We also had a beautiful flower canopy made on the dance floor. It was a bit tiring and after sometime when the guests started saying congrats I also repeated it instead of saying thanks. It was quite funny. The brunch function after the wedding was simply a wonderful one. The dress code was white.
Overall it was a perfect wedding and everything went off well, leaving us with beautiful memories.
