That's why I decided to treat myself to a spa treatment. Mudd - located at Bandra Band Stand on the road that stretches between Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan's houses - is an uber-mod day spa paneled in dark wood and deep pink/chutney green walls.

After a quick consult on my hair type, spa-owner Aleena Jetha explained how she'd treat my hair. I'd get two treatments. First, I'd get a complete hair protein treatment (that works on the scalp/roots) and then would come the hair spa. Already, I began to relax, thanks in part to the jasmine-scented air.

My therapist began by applying oil, which helps mend dry hair to the scalp. Depending on your hair type, they also use relaxing or hair growth oils. Treatments for coloured/processed/damaged hair vary slightly. Next she applied a water-based tonic and the protein mask, a home-made concoction of among other things, curd, egg and coffee (!), which strengthens the hair and helps it regain its gloss.

And as I waited for the pack to work its magic, the therapist gave me a wonderfully destressing neck, shoulder and arm massage (it's included in the treatment), that left me feeling like a gooey puddle of contentment. This treatment lasts an hour.

The hair spa starts after a wash. As part of the deep conditioning process, the therapist applied a serum to my mid-lengths and ends, but skipped the cream because my hair is very fine. It's massaged in toughly, and then washed.

A power dry later, I was ready to show off my newly silky hair!
