Does the idea of replacing a relaxing massage with jets of water hitting your stress points sound impossible? Even I felt the same. And that's when I walked into Caressa Spa for the Derma Life Capsule therapy on a very hot Sunday afternoon.

One of the hallmarks of a good spa is the ambience. The serene space of Caressa is very relaxing although it is situated next to a very busy and noisy road.

As the calming ambience soothed my heat-ridden nerves, Rekha Choudhary, co-owner of the spa suggested that I should try the water therapy because it's perfect for summer! She also explained that the water capsule has been introduced in India for the first time and upon request can be sold to clients.

Elaborating on the benefits, she said, "The jet showers completely detoxify your body and works on your lymphatic drainage (passage of water through your body). It can also cure ailments like back pain."

I was super curious to try the real thing. A very cordial lady escorted me to the capsule chamber and she asked me to get into 'bare' minimum disposable underwear. The capsule cover was opened and red- blue-green blinking lights came on. Then she asked me to lie down in it. The experience felt almost Avatarish!

While I was lying in the capsule, she opened a water faucet and asked me to check if the water temperature was right. "Perfect", I said. Then she switched on button that caused the board, on which I lying, to vibrate. Wow, this was going to be some experience!

The lid was closed with my head sticking out as I braced myself for the unexpected. Suddenly, I felt powerful jets of warm water hitting the sole of my feet, followed by back and hands. A warm steam followed creating a sauna-like experience. This cycle repeated several times till it was perfectly blissful to be lying in the capsule!

I was just about to drift of into a tranquil sleep when the vibrating and water jets stopped. My attendant informed that it was a 30-minute therapy. Ah! why couldn't it last just a little longer? But surprise, surprise it didn't end there!

A complementary foot reflexology massage followed along with some warm green tea. The masseuse deftly undid the stress knots with her hands and a smooth wooden stick. The 20-minute massage convinced me that it was the best foot reflexology massage in the city.

By now you can imagine that by mind and body felt one (well almost) and I was floating in some kind of wonderful, surreal world. As I walked away in my new found Avatar, I knew one visit was just not enough.
