It may seem that thin women can eat everything in sight while the rest of us gain a pound by just sniffing a doughnut. But 'naturally' slim women actually have to work at it too. Here are some of the tricks they adopt - and which can keep your weight down too...
  1. They stop eating before they're stuffed
A meal should make you feel only just satisfied. Gauge this by rating your hunger on a scale of 1-10 (1 = starving hungry, 10 = uncomfortably full). Stop when you're at about 7 or 8 on the scale. Don't start eating unless you rate a 5 or above.

  2. They don't skip meals
It's counterproductive because you'll eventually become so hungry that all self-control goes out of the window.

  3. Denial isn't on their menu
Skinny people don't pass up fattening foods they really like - they just have a titchy portion.

  4. They've ditched the 'all or nothing' attitude
If one overindulgence makes you feel disgusted with yourself for blowing it, you'll probably just carry on comfort eating. Don't dwell on it - just get back to eating healthily.

  5. They don't use food as a crutch
Tricky, but training yourself not to eat as an emotional response is essential. Realising that you're bored or sad rather than hungry will help you respond without eating.

  6. Food gets their full attention
Skinny women make it easier for themselves to eat less because they savour what they eat and enjoy every mouthful. Do the same.

  7. They're natural fidgets
Many slim women are naturally restless, burning calories without doing formal exercise. Mimic it by pacing when you're on the phone, crossing and uncrossing your legs, doodling and drumming your fingers. Every little helps!
