She had failed the crucial class ten-board exams and her self-esteem was at an all time low. Even counseling could not heal her emotions. But a 4.25 ratis of green emerald did. The same precious stone is also believed to have empowered her to become one of the best medical professionals of Mumbai.

He was a very wealthy man who was seized by the desire to become wealthier. He chanced upon a ‘how-to-become-a millionaire’ tip – “Wear a blue sapphire.”  He followed the tip. The very next day, he lost crores in the stock market. In a matter of days, he was radically transformed from a prince to a pauper. Tossing away the blue sapphire healed his situation. But only just. Today he is an ordinary broker at Mumbai’s share market and those in the know tell his tale in hushed whispers.

Dilip Singh, a healthy young man from Uttar Pradesh, came to seek his fortune in Mumbai.  “I am a Leo and according to my Zodiac sign, my gemstone is Ruby so I wore it for luck,” he recalls. Shortly thereafter, his health began to fail. After being reduced to a pale shadow of his former self, he thought perhaps it had something to do with the gem he wore. Chucking the ruby ring helped him regain his health and vitality to pursue a promising career in the field of computers.

Faith in the healing powers of stones is almost as old as humanity itself. In fact, before they were used for adornment, stones were used in many ancient cultures to heal, conquer and control various areas of life – health, wealth, relationships, et al.

Precious stones are an extremely powerful source of energy. If a particular kind of energy is needed to heal a situation, wearing the stone radiating the required energy will remedy the situation. On the other hand, if a specific energy is responsible for some problem area in your life, then you ought not to wear a stone vibrating with that energy or else it will only further aggravate the problems.

Specific stone for specific need

Many adventurously follow general prescriptions like, Diamond for well being, ruby for love and energy, emerald for healing or Zodiac sign tables that say, “Aries-ruby/coral, Taurus-saphire/emerald/topaz, Gemini-agate aquamarine, Cancer-emerald/moonstone, Leo-ruby, Virgo-carnelian/Tourquoise, Libra-Diamond, Scorpio-Topaz, Sagittarius-Amethyst, Capricorn-Garnet, Aquarius-blue sapphire, Pisces-jade”

Others warn that wearing a gem without consulting an eminent astrologer and gemologist can be extremely risky and dangerous. They believe that there are twelve houses in a person’s horoscope, representing different spheres of life – well-being, marital relationships, career, education, luck, disease etc. Each house has a governing planet with its corresponding precious stone. Everyone has his/her unique Janam Kundli. Therefore the ruling planet and stone for a particular house may differ from person to person.

For example: One person’s first house (well being) or the ninth house (luck) may be governed by Saturn, so wearing a blue sapphire might have a positive impact upon his life. However Saturn may be the Lord of some negative house in another person’s horoscope. Wearing blue sapphire would then be disastrous for him.

Play safe

It is largely considered a safer option to consult a good astrologer who after studying your horoscope will prescribe an appropriate stone in suitable size, cut and weight.
