- Sip water before and during the meal instead of high-calorie soft drinks.
- Fill up first with a salad and have little or no dressing.
Order vegetable pasta or a baked potato. If it comes with a high-fat sauce or sour cream, ask for it on the side and eat very little of it.
- Eat veg, resist chips. Steal a few from your partner.
- Go for fish or chicken rather than red meat and have it baked or grilled.
- Eat a few crackers, or breadsticks rather than big hunks of white bread.
- Avoid margarine, butter and fried foods.
- Always get a sandwich without mayonnaise.
- Split dessert.
