A life-long study of this subject can be a fascinating occupation, for after a point, you will realise that the key to anything and everything is to understand the movement of our energy. What causes it to increase and decrease, what factors bring in energy, and which ones deplete it? Why do people behave the way they do? Is it their character and personality that is to be blamed, or the energy movements in their body. Why are some houses so welcoming, while others so claustrophobic? Why do some people put on weight even if they are not big eaters? What causes ailments like cancer? The answers to all these questions and more, can be got if you understand how to “read” energy.

Ideally, a person is healthy if the energy in him flows freely. The biggest stumbling block that prevents energy from moving smoothly is our ego. The moment our ego raises its head, voila, an energy block is created in our system. The bigger the ego, the larger the block. 

Next on the list is stored emotions, particularly guilt. Guilt is like a leaking faucet: unless you deal with it, it will drain your energy every second. Then of course, the physical aspect: lack of exercise, poor food habits, etc – all these contribute to a poor flow of energy.

Unless you are extremely clued in to your body’s requirements, you will not realise what is happening inside it. How should you know whether the energy in your system is flowing smoothly, whether the energy in your house is good? Without knowing how to ‘read’ energy, is there any way you can take corrective measures? 

Well, yes. It’s simple. All you got to do is observe what is happening around you. Remember, whatever is happening inside you will happen outside you. In the sense, that your energy pattern or frequency will set the frequency for everything around you. If you feel morose inside, you will find the world a big hell-hole. If you are happy inside, you will find opportunities coming your way. 

So, watch every aspect of your existence. For instance, if you have a Tulsi plant in your house, watch its growth pattern. Is it healthy? Or is it withering? The Tulsi is a very energy-sensitive plant. That’s why it is worshipped and finds a place in religious rituals. It takes on the energy of its surroundings, and hence is a good indicator of the energy flow in the house.

Secondly, watch what happens to clothes or bags strewn around in the house. Does it lie in the same place for days together without anyone bothering to pick it up? Does the dust on the chairs and tables remain without anyone cleaning it? Do you tend to pick up the dullest clothes from your closet or do you go for the bright ones? Observations like these, will tell you what is the energy status in your house – whether it is sticky, stagnant or plain dead.

And once you have a fair idea, consciously change things. Do some spring cleaning; change positions of furniture; change the upholstery. Laugh. Play music. Invite kids into the house. Throw a party. Basically, shake the energy. All these steps will help bring in freshness, which translated means, more energy. And as fresh energy comes in, you will find a positive change happening in you, and in the space surrounding you.
