drgoel: 1) avoid too much exposure to the harsh sun especially afternoon. 2) Start using a sunscreen of 50+ spf regularly on all exposed body parts. 3) do a skin polishing ( microdermabrasion) for face and neck. 4) start taking cap skin O2 1 daily it is an antioxidant. Use ban a tan oint at night on tanned areas

banagher: hi dr, most sunscreens say that it has to be put on 15-30 mins prior to going out in the sun. since that is not always possible, is there any harm in putting the suncreen on and stepping into the sun? will sunscreen protect from a tan as well ?

drgoel: Chemical sunscreens need to be used 20 min prior , not physical ones. So use a combination one in case you cannot use it prior. Usea good product like sebamed 50+ or la roche anthelios 50 spf. Sunscreens will not clear the existing tan but will prevent it from getting worse. So it is definitely advisable to have sunscreen on all time

Preethi: and what to do for the heat boils and rashes??

drgoel: Rub ice once a day. apply sarna or calamine lotion. if the area is itchy you canuse a mild steroid like Softcor at night for 1 -2 weeks. Use a flucort dusting powder if rash is on body folds. If still itchy, take tab Lerafil 1 at night for 3 days

SHZD: Madam Hi - for tanning _ hw could one protect from sun example people in sales

drgoel: Well sales people are at danger of tanning for sure. Cahnge the work shifts. at least avoid the noon sun. Apart from that all the general advices like sunscreens, oral antioxidants etc. also in rains, get some chemical peels done. They help a lot.

Urja: Hello Maam Pls let me know if i have mild Psoriasis and if i concieve will the child born will get it at the time of birth?

drgoel: Not at all. Urja please be sure that nothing will happen to the newborn. It is not transmitted at birth. The birth disorders are a different story . they are the hyperkeratinization disorders like icthyosis. If you had that, your child could be born with that. But not psoriasis for sure

abhay: Doc what do you suggest for dry lips for non smoker males?

drgoel: Blistex DCT / neutrogena lip balm. use it daily 3-4 times.

drgoel: well just that much info will definitely not help. I need to see the skin and then only I will be able to comment. For now i can only advise that start using a sunscreen daily morning and use a lightening agent like trio bloc at night on the patch.

charu: I've been prescribed Isotroin 10 mg for around 10 months by a dermatologist, here in Delhi. I want to know for how long does the effect of Isotroin last once off medication?

drgoel: well 10mg for 10 months is a low dosage. Once you take it for this time , you should be free of acne and oiliness for at least 6 months. Since it is a fat soluble vit A, it has more lasting effect than any other medication. Hope you have been told by your doctor about the fact that you should not conceive ( get preganant) while on this medication

drgoel: Start tab Skin 02 1 daily and also tab Limcee 500 two daily for 15 days. Use a shower gel only, not soap. Apply sarna lotion on the area in morning and also apply a mild steroid like softcor mixed with 1:1 moisturiser at night. Dont scub the area. Take tab Allegra 180 mg 1 at night if itching more

charu: And the complexion brightening effect imparted by Isotroin? That too is temporary?

drgoel: well charu. That is subject to your skin condition and how much stress, make up and pollution your skin is exposed to depending on your lifestyle. Skin has to be maintainned by proper skin care products, cleanups / facials dep on your skin type.

Patricia: Hi doc my skin on upper lip, chin & sides of cheeks got darkened when i used Jolen Face Bleach twice in succession as the first application did not give desired results. This darkened the area. have done dermamelan treatment with a dermatologist. 3 face masks and then the nightly cream. However the marks still remain. I read that warm honey mixed with Aspirin powder if applied for 15 mins daily will help. Pls advise if Aspirin would be bad for the skin.

drgoel: No No no dear. dont do that honey ordeal. use a stronger depigmenting agent like melacare for 2-3 weeks. You can alternate it with depiwhite oint. But please watch out for any irriatation as you have been doing so many procedures already. In case of any irritation due to theis product, discontinue the use. You can also try lasers. Have you discussed that possibility with your dermat

Bobhalder: Dr Goel pls suggest some tips to avoid for Scalp etching/ Dandruff which happens to persons while travelling and staying in various cities with the usage of hard water for bath?

drgoel: Thanks for the beautiful question. One problem is that when youtravel a lot, you tend to use the hotel shampoos and conditioners. Avoid that and carry your own products that are for your hair type. For the itching use Sebowashshampoo twice a week for hair wash and see that you keep it on scalp for 1-2 min while washing. Also a head massage with warm coconut oil will avoid drying the scalp. But wash thehair soon after the oil application. Sebamed daily wash shampoo should be good for your hair if it is dry

Shailesh: Madam,Myself Shailesh from Porbandar, minimum how many sitting required for permanent hair removal by laser ?

drgoel: Shailesh on an average it takes 6-8sessions but it depends on the area which is lasered. For example face could need a few more. Remember laser does not work on fine hair and on grey hair. Soprano super hair removal ( diode) is excellent for male skins as it is totally painless. My male clients love it

drgoel: Pooja since you are breast feeding, we cannot give you oral medications. However take tab Avil 1 at night and apply calkem lotion in day and desowen lotion at night on the rash. This should help dear.

Juhi: Hi Doc, I have a 1yr old baby and 'cause of the heat she is also having prickly heats all over her body including head. I started applying Nycil powder, but i m not sure if its fine for baby. could u suggest something better..

drgoel: Juhi avoid using oils and any massages for the child. Also use the sebamed body lotion forkids. It is awesome for prickly heat it contains chamomile oil that soothens skin. So apply this lotion after bath and srana at night. Give oral Vit C drops twice a day.

rajiv: doctor, what cream could be applies to postpone ageing signs on face

drgoel: Rajiv it is not a single product. start using FASH foamy facewash daily. Then sunscreen ( use sebamed / vichy). Let this be on your face the whole day. Before sleeping, wash face and apply the Vichy night antiaging cream. Even loreal has good antiaging cream for men. Also see if you need to fly to mumbai for botox injections.

drgoel: In case you are allergic to hair dyes, you may have a probem with most of them. However among the existing ones, loreal creme excellence is good.Loreal has recently launched a ammonia fre hair color. Try it. Also take a tab Lerafil previous night. Use momate lotion on skin and scalp if required. not tenovate

drgoel: Rishita isotroin gel and capsules are used for your purpose but I am not sure if you are a candidate. Need to know your medical history more. If you are In Mumbai, meet me. Or else for now start using FASH foamy face wash, Sun cote sunscreen in day time and acnemoist moisturiser at night. Avoid oil on scalp and use sebowash shampoo for hair wash

Patricia: Well the depigmenting agents peel off my skin making it difficult to go out. My skin is very oily & if i apply a moisturiser i break into pimples. The dermat suggested laser but also said for it to be effective i have to also take a Hormone Replacement pill every day. I am not in favour of it.
