“Fitness is a very important part of my life. More than just about physical appearance it’s how you feel internally. If you are fit, you are more active, you feel good about yourself, it brings an inner glow, a satisfaction, a confidence, and it’s a whole circle – it’s a total high!”

Exercise

I begin my day with exercise. It’s a great way to both de-stress as well as to connect with myself. From weight training at a gym, to spinning, kickboxing, strength training, swimming, yoga and running. I keep changing my exercise regime every six months, so the body doesn’t get used to it.

Currently, I practise yoga twice a day. In the mornings, I practise vinyasa yoga for an hour. In the evenings after work I pratise power yoga for about an hour and half, with my personal instructor at home. Power yoga is basically 50 surya namaskars followed by advanced asanas, performed vigorously. It takes the heart rate high at different intervals and thus increases rate of metabolism which in turn helps reduce weight.

Yoga gives great benefits, corrects body postures, cleans the system, brings great alignment, and tones the body giving it strength, and flexibility. I end every session with pranayam (breathing technique) for about 20 minutes.

When your routine is set, automatically you have a set pattern. You eat healthy and begin to avoid late nights. I make sure I get my eight hours of sleep.

Diet

I drink plenty of water; in fact, I carry a bottle with me mostly at all times. When out, I eat grilled stuff, like kebabs and avoid fried stuff and desserts. I love salads, and eat loads of it. Sometimes, I eat chicken but more often I eat seafood or vegetarian food. On Sundays I go easy on the diet.

I climb up the stairs once a while. I live on the 14th floor and can manage it with ease. I try and eat every two hours. I eat small meals. I follow a balanced diet of high proteins and less carbohydrates. I eat 6-7 light meals a day. It builds metabolism and helps lose weight faster.

I have a cup of tea with one fruit or some nuts at 8 when I wake up. Then I leave for my workout. Before I leave for work, I have a glass of skimmed milk with a fruit or two egg whites omelets.

My lunch is one roti, bowl of low fat curd, some vegetables and dal. At 3, I have a cup of tea with either few almonds or 2 glucose biscuits. Then I eat a fruit and a whole-wheat sandwich with cucumber, tomato and chutney. At 7, I have a bowl of soup and salad.

My dinner is any protein (fish, chicken or low fat paneer) and vegetables or egg whites. Before I sleep I have a fruit.

Mind

I am at my studio from 11 to 6. I love and enjoy being there; it’s what I look forward to everyday. Designing, meeting my clients, creating my new line, gives me great pleasure. I like watching a film or listening to music. My cute pet dog is also my stress buster.

Spirituality

Spirituality is a state of being, being with your inner self. It’s how you perceive everything around you, it’s understanding in a higher form. Yoga has given me a direction in life. I connect with god through yoga and meditation. I have a temple at home. I light a diya and pray everyday. It gives me strength, helps me focus on my third eye. I believe in being positive in life. Happiness lies within you. If you are happy, you will spread happiness.

Be focused, dedicated, hardworking, have clarity and you will achieve your goal. Life is short, enjoy it, value it and thank God for everything.”
