“Fitness is not merely muscles and well toned body it’s also internal strength and lots of stamina. I initially started going to gym but soon got bored and then I started kickboxing and am thoroughly enjoying it. It has made me more confident and has also increased my strength and stamina. It has worked wonders for me; enhancing coordination postures and flexibity. I practise kickboxing 5 times a week. It is a power packed workout that works on cardio and toning. This martial art, which is also a self-defense technique, enhances overall fitness. My instructor has incorporated yoga as well in my kick boxing class and I find it very beneficial as it helps me de stress too. I take the stairs whenever I can; and living on the seventh floor makes it good exercise.

Diet

I start my day with either a cup of tea or coffee. I then have a big bowl of fruits along with egg or cereal, and sometimes toast. I eat every two to three hours. My lunch consists of dal, vegetables and 2 rotis. In the evening I have a chicken roll. Dinner is a light soup, two rotis and some vegetables.

Mind

For me home is the best place to unwind after a hard day’s work. I light lot of scented candles, listen to soothing music and this helps me to rejuvenate. My home allows me the space to disconnect from the outside world and just be me. I enjoy reading and watching movies at home.

Spirituality

Spirituality to me is a state of mind. I say a prayer of thanks for all that I have each day and leave it at that because I believe that more than any institution or building, God lives in one’s heart. Yet, I’m not averse to visiting temples or churches or shrines. I visit the Mount Mary church once in a while. In fact, I find a sense of quiet and peace there.

I believe in working hard in life and to never giving up. A positive attitude helps. Back in school, I studied a poem ‘Stopping by woods on a snowy evening’ by Robert Frost. It was very simple but it had these lines that have stuck with me since then; ‘The woods are lovely dark and deep and I have miles to go before I sleep’. It inspires me till date!”
