I’m a 15-year-old boy with a drug addiction. I’m involved with several types of drugs and I regret ever taking them. I have caring parents who have found out I take these drugs, but I don’t know what to do because I’m kind of hooked. I don’t want to disgrace my parents. How can I get back on the straight and narrow?

You’ve taken the first step by admitting you have a problem and there’s lots of help out there for addiction. And talk to your parents so they can support you. Tell them you hate what you’re doing, but you need help because you don’t know where to start.
It’s brave of you to admit and recognise you have a problem and although it might be a hard road towards beating your addiction, you’re only 15 and you still have your whole life ahead of you. You have to stay strong.
You read about lots of cases in the papers where there hasn’t been a good outcome, but there are so many success stories, too. It is possible to conquer it and I think you have the strength to do it.
What you must do is stay away from any people who you associate with drugs and those who may lead you to take them. You can get through this with the support of your family and your real friends. Good luck.
