Methi (Fenugreek)

Soak two teaspoon full powdered methi seeds in water. Leave overnight. Strain and drink a cup of the methi water first thing in the morning. Some prefer to swallow the seeds whole while others choose to consume the seed powder in milk.


Kadi Patta (Curry leaves)
It is widely believed that consuming eight to ten fresh kadi patta leaves every morning works wonders in not only preventing diabetes due to hereditary but also in effectively controlling the sugar levels in diabetic patients.

 

Amla (Indian Gooseberry)

Amla is a traditional medicine for diabetes widely prescribed by Indian vaids. 1 tbsp amla juice added to 1 cup juice of fresh karela (bitter gourd) and consumed daily for approximately sixty to seventy days is said to have a healing effect on the pancreas. Moreover, this remedy is a preventive against eye ailments due to diabetes. Alternatively, one can opt for a tablespoon of the mixture of powdered amla, jambul, and bitter gourd twice a day.

 

Tarwar (Tenner’s Cassia)

Ingest the powder of this herb with a dash of honey to check the progress of diabetes.  Some prefer to drink a decoction of tarwar’s buds.

 

Chakotra (Grapefruit)

Naturalists claim eating three chakotras a day effectively controls diabetes within a few weeks.

 

Jamun (Rose Apple, Java Plum)

Jamun is an ancient Indian remedy mentioned in the Ayurveda. The dried and powdered seeds of jamun is to be ingested three times a day in doses of approximately three grams.

 

Aam (Mango)

At the onset of diabetes, this traditional remedy is said to be very effective.  Soak fresh aam leaves overnight. In the morning squeeze the leaves, filter the water and drink it.

 

Karela (Bitter Gourd)

It is one of the most popular folk medicine for diabetes. Consume the juice of karela on an empty stomach every morning. Alternatively, you may prepare a decoction by boiling the pieces in water and consuming the same.
