Palak (Spinach)

This vegetable gets a high rating from the medical fraternity too in the treatment and prevention of anaemia. Being a valuable source of iron, its regular intake and absorption in the body raises the haemoglobin count. Make it a mandatory part of your diet in the form of sabzi, soup, salads, juice, or use it while kneading the dough for chappatis.

Zardalu (Apricot)

Fresh as well as dried apricots contain various valuable ingredients.  The dried variety are very rich in iron content making them a good food remedy for low haemoglobin count.  Consume a few on daily basis.

Kela (Banana)

It is said that consuming a banana first thing in the morning {on an empty stomach} does a lot of good for one’s constitution with stimulating the production of haemoglobin in the blood being one of the benefits.

Munaqqa (Raisins)

Since ancient times, raisins or dried grapes have been regarded as a nourishing and healthy edible. They provide the much needed easily absorbed iron for the anaemic.

Chukandar (Beet Root)

There is a belief in home remedies folk lore that the juice of beet root is one of the most effective remedy for anaemia. Some prefer to boil the vegetable and use it in salads while consuming the boiled water with a dash of lemon juice instead of the juice.

Salad Ka Patta (Lettuce)

It is a rich source of vegetable iron that is easily absorbed by the human body.  Use it liberally in salads and have a large portion at every major meal.

Badam (Almonds)

Soak five to seven almonds in a cup of water overnight.  In the morning peal the almonds and eat them on an empty stomach to raise your haemoglobin count.

Til (Sesame Seeds)

A popular home remedy in rural India incorporates preparing an emulsion of black sesame seeds and consuming the same in a cup of milk sweetened with jaggery. Soak some black sesame seeds in warm water for a few hours. Grind and strain to get the emulsion.

Methi (Fenugreek)

Methi parathas and sabji are not just that. They make an effective cure for anemia if consumed liberally and regularly.
