Healthcare declaration signed

The Government of Maharashtra and Government of Quebec signed the Joint Declaration on Cooperation in Health and Social Services in telemedicine, tele-trauma and primary care


Dr Yves Bolduc, Minister of Health and Social Services, Government of Québec along with his official and business delegation was in Mumbai to address an Industry interactive meet organised jointly by CII and Quebec Government Office, Mumbai. In his address, Dr Bolduc spoke about stimulating Quebec's economic and social development through an increased involvement of its northern sector.

Mr Suresh H Shetty, Minister of Public Health, Family Welfare & Protocol, Government of Maharashtra spoke about the Indian Government's priority to fight against lifestyle diseases like hypertension and cancer. He assured that the government is setting up six hospitals in each division to give cancer treatment to poor people. The Government of Maharashtra and Government of Quebec are trying to explore opportunities for collaboration and one of them is the signing the Joint Declaration on Cooperation in Health and Social Services in telemedicine, tele-trauma and primary care.

The session chaired by Dr Vivek Desai, chairman, CII Healthcare Sub-Committee and managing director, Hosmac India Pvt Ltd, emphasised on the Public Private Partnership (PPP) models as the driving factors for the growth of healthcare between the two countries.
