Dengue or bone breaking fever is due to the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito. It takes at least five to eight days before the signs and symptoms appear.

Symptoms
The symptoms of dengue are high fever (104 F), reddened eyes, week rapid pulse, cold clammy skin and restlessness. The dengue infection can affect many organs and cause liver dysfunction, renal impairment, meningo-encephalitis or gastroenteritis.

Prevention

  • Use mosquito repellent sprays that contain DEET.
  • Limit exposure to mosquitoes by avoiding stagnant water.
  • Boil neem leaves in water and bathe from that water as it acts as a good mosquito repellent.
  • Spray fumes made of Neem leaves in your surroundings after sunset .
  • Fumes of guggulu, sarso, vacha and neem, in the form of Yagya and Hawan Samagri is the best way to remove environmental microbes.

Treatment

Fever tips:

  • Medicines containing paracetamol are used to bring down the fever.
  • Ayurvedic medicines such as Tribhuvan Kirti and Kiratiktadi are safe options as well.
  • Syrup called Kakamachi helps expel negative toxins. A cup of this syrup to be had twice a day is recommended.

Immunity Tip:

  • A mixture of tulsi juice, ginger juice and honey in equal proportion in the mornings provides sufficient immunity.
  • Cleaning teeth and gums with a mixture of two drops of mustard oil, one pinch salt and two pinch haldi in the morning is great for oral hygiene and immunity.

Seasonal regimen:

  • Pomegranate, bela, aloo bhukhara, chikoo and apple contain micro nutrients which make the body strong enough to fight dengue.
  • Orange juice helps with digestion; increase in urinary output and in promoting antibodies for faster healing and recovery.
  • Take two tablespoons of raw papaya leaves juice, once a day. Do not boil, cook or rinse these leaves with hot water as they will loose their nutrients. This juice helps prevent dengue fever.

Diet tips
One should incorporate porridge, baked toasts (not fried), herbal tea with tulsi, ginger and cardamom in their diet.
