Dr Aashish Contractor, preventive cardiology and rehabilitation

Dr Contractor is the head of dept of preventive cardiology and rehabilitation at the Asian Heart Institute, Mumbai. He is also the certification director of the American College of Sports Medicine in India. Currently, he is conducting a study to measure the levels of physical activity in school children and their correlation with cardiovascular risk factors.
Dr Contractor has been published in national and international textbooks as well as journals. On an academic front he is a visiting lecturer at the SNDT University and serves on the board of studies of the SVT College (SNDT University) as well as a visiting professor at Chester University, UK. He has coordinated the medical support for the Mumbai Marathon from its inception to present (2004-2006) as well as the inaugural ATP tennis tournament in Mumbai.

Dr Abhay Agrawal, laparoscopic obesity surgeon

An early enthusiast and one of the few surgeons who actively perform a sizable number of weight loss surgical procedures in the country, Dr Abhay Agrawal runs the department of bariatric surgery – a center of excellence with a 100 per cent success rate at the Asian Heart Institute, Mumbai. His team, consisting of a dietician, endocrinologist, counsellor and anaesthetist are well experienced in handling the difficulties faced in treating obese patients.
He is also a faculty at the Ethicon Institute of Surgical Education Mahim to train young budding laparoscopic surgeons. He has attended several workshops on the subject in India and abroad and is extensively invited nationally and internationally for delivering talks and demonstrations in laparoscopic bariatric surgery. He is also a member of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI), the Indian Association of Gastro Endo-Surgeons (IAGES), and the Obesity Surgeons Society of India (OSSI).

Dr Avinash N Katara, minimal access, obesity and general surgeon
Dr Katara is a full-time consultant in the department of minimal access surgery (MAS) at PD Hinduja National Hospital and Medical Research Centre. He has trained extensively in India, Singapore and Australia, and has over ten years' experience in MAS. He has done several fellowships in India and overseas in minimal access and hernia surgery. He performs a variety of advanced laparoscopic, thoracoscopic and endovascular procedures. He has trained in bariatric surgery for morbid obesity in Singapore, Australia and USA. He is a keen academic and has several publications, presentations and lectures to his credit, both at national and international levels.
His areas of interest include bariatric surgery and weight control, hernia surgery, gall bladder surgery (laparoscopic cholecystectomy), thoracoscopic sympathectomy for sweaty palms (hyperhidrosis), minimally invasive procedures for piles (hemorrhoids) and a variety of other minimally invasive procedures. In addition, he offers general surgical services, which include open procedures as well.

Dr Aniruddha Malpani, infertility specialist

Dr Malpani is a leading consultant infertility specialist and practices with his wife, Dr Anjali Malpani, in Mumbai. Their clinic, Malpani Infertility Clinic (www.drmalpani.com) attracts patients from all over the world. Dr Apratim Goel, non-surgical cosmetic dermatologist

Dr Goel is the consultant dermatologist to L’Oreal Paris, the world leaders in cosmetics. She presently runs her own laser, skin and cosmetic clinic called Cutis Klinic in south Mumbai, India. She is a panelist to renowned airlines like Jet Airways. She is also involved with many projects in training doctors all across the country.
She was one of the first physicians in India to introduce the Dermalift procedure – a non-surgical face/neck lift using radiofrequency rays. She is a leading injector and trainer for Botox and fillers in India. Dr Anand Somaya, cardio thoracic and vascular surgeon

Dr Somaya is a consultant – cardio thoracic and vascular surgeon at the Cumballa Hill Heart Hospital, the Breach Candy Hospital, Masina Hospital, and the B.D. Petit Parsee General Hospital in addition to the Bombay Hospital. He is also consultant – cardio thoracic and vascular surgeon for His Excellency, The Governor of Maharashtra and the Mumbai Police Force.
